You're a Star - the U2 connection

Flicking around on RTE 1 last friday night - Kenny Live. the panel from from You're a star were on promoting the show.

It's very unusual for Pat to put on his radio tone for pap like this; But fair play to him he did, asking the question that cynics like to ask - "who has come through this type of show and made a name for themselves?"

Roll up Brendan Graham with the "you may not have known this but....". According to the ballsy Graham, a little Dublin band called The Hype, had actually come through a talent show format back in the mid 70's. Now of course, the biggest rock band in the world, U2.

I had hoped Pat would then ask Mr Graham to further expound on his Six degrees of separation theory for decade shifted, Baggot Inn hosted, pre celtic tiger Limerick talent shows, but he just had too many far more interesting questions to ask.

Gelato for the Park

Browsing the Irish Government procurement website this morning brought a smile to my dark january face.....Sale of ice cream in the Phoenix Park

According to the notice

"..The Phoenix Park is a National Historic Park and due consideration wil be given to any tenderer who undertakes to sell ice cream fron a traditional vehicle or point of sale."

I hope "traditional vehicle" includes tinkly, pied piperish music to get all those adults and children going....

Ahh, those poor visiting dignataries visting Farmleigh - quality gelato on their doorstep.
